Good Housekeeping Magazine’s best electric blanket 2022.
This cosy Beurer fleece topper/electric blanket is remarkably comfortable and soothing to lie on, either on a bed or even on a sofa. The ultra thin wires avoid the discomfort of lying on bulky cables and elements that cheaper blankets use. The topper works like a fitted sheet – using a elasticated skirt that sits tightly to a mattress up to 28cm. Place the bed sheet on top of the electric blanket and sleep as normal.
Use the pre-heat facility to avoid ever having to climb into a cold bed again. The blanket takes 8 minutes to heat up and use the 6 different heat settings to find the ideal level of warmth for your needs. It has a timer with settings of 1, 3, 6 or 12 hours, this allows you to turn the blanket off (or leave on all night in the case of the 12 hour setting) whenever you require.
The blanket has detachable switches and is machine washable at 30º and tumble dryer safe. Available in double and king size.
Best of all, the low energy use of this blanket means it costs as little as 10p per night to use.
Cost per hour:
Double: approx. 2p per hour (100 Watts)
* calculated using the UK: Price Guarantee (October 2022) electricity rate of 34.00 pence per kWh. (29/09/22).
Good Housekeeping review:
Best electric blanket
Score: 92/100
There’s no doubt about it, this under blanket is an outstanding winter warmer. On test, it distributed heat evenly across its soft, fleecy surface on all temperature settings, even after extended use.
It only took five minutes to heat up and fitted our double mattress with minimal effort. It barely shrunk after washing either.
It also has built-in foot warmth, but you can’t adjust its settings and the control isn’t the easiest to read at night. Overall, though, this high-quality blanket costs little to run and would make a comfortable addition to any bed.
