“A degree of infirmity encourages you to make almost anything better from a user’s point of view”. – Sir Kenneth Grange –
These chairs have been specially designed for the older generation by Britain’s most prominent product designer Sir Kenneth Grange (pictured). Sir Kenneth is perhaps best known for his iconic designs including; Kodak cameras, Kenwood mixers, Parker pens, Anglepoise lamps, Royal Mail postboxes and the Intercity 125 – to name but a few!
The ergonomically designed high-backed chairs are a brilliant modernist take on more traditional and dated furniture. They are supremely comfortable, despite (or because) of the fact that the seat is not soft like a sofa, and offers all the right support – the high armrests make getting in and out of the armchair much less of an effort. Its modern look is achieved with a one-piece foam moulding covering an integral frame, which gives it contemporary curves and gentle flowing lines. This contrasts with the straight-backed and flabby look of typical older people’s chairs, which usually comprise a wooden frame with a couple of cushions stuck to it.
The Edith armchair is available in 75+ colours and 2 fabric types. You can download the PDF’s for the Synergy or Halcyon range or we can supply fabric swatch cards by post.
